Volunteering

Volunteering at Carbon School

At Carbon School, we greatly appreciate the countless hours donated by our volunteers; their efforts make our school a fantastic place to be. While we never wish to discourage volunteers, ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority. Therefore, we want to ensure that all protocols are followed diligently.

As per the Golden Hills School Division Policy, all volunteers at Carbon School, including community coaches, drivers, and individuals working with students in classrooms, must fulfill the following requirements:

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Complete a Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check: This involves obtaining a Name-Based Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Click here for a copy of the letter to be provided to the RCMP detachment to obtain the Criminal Record Check at no charge.
  • Complete a Child Intervention Check: This can be done free of charge by emailing cfs.irccentral@gov.ab.ca.

Additionally, volunteer drivers must complete the Volunteer Automobile Driver Authorization Form and provide a current driver's abstract, obtainable at any Alberta Registries Agency. Volunteer drivers are also required to have a minimum of Two Million Public Liability Insurance.

All the aforementioned documentation must be submitted to Carbon School prior to volunteering and expires one year from the date it was issued.
